INFORMATION ON IBPS CWE PO & CLERK EXAM!

 

About IBPS Bank PO Exam:

We would like to provide some knowledge about the IBPS exam for the new candidates as they might not be aware of the details. As the name IBPS suggests, it is an institute established for the purpose of recruiting staff in various public sector banks.  

 

IBPS CWE PO exam is held ONLINE. This is the exam held for recruitment to nationalized banks in India for jobs of Probationary Officer (PO). The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a Common Written Examination (CWE) on behalf of 21 nationalized banks as a pre-requisite for selection of Probationary Officers.

 

IBPS is an institution that conducts only the written test. The vacancies in individual banks as well as the group discussion and personal interview process are managed by each participating bank separately.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Nationality:

A candidate must be one of the following:

 

(a) A citizen of India.

(b) A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

(c) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

(d) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from other countries (check for the list of countries in the IPBS official website) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

            provided that a candidate belonging to categories above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian government.

 

2. Age:

A candidate should be between 20 – 30 years (both inclusive) as on 1st July of every year in order to appear for the respective year’s exam.

3. Educational Qualification:

A candidate must be a graduate with 60% (55% for SC/ST/PWD) in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST/ PWD categories filling in “unreserved” vacancies will not be entitled to the relaxation of 5% marks mentioned above.

 

Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in computer operations/ Language should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

Note: The above tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.

Negative Marks:penalty of 0.25 mark will be levied, if any wrong answer has been given. The candidates are advised that they must ensure about the correct answer while marking the answer. In other case if candidate does not attempt the question and left black it, no wrong penalty will be applicable.

 

5. Cut-Off Score:

Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. The minimum cut off marks will be 24 (Gen. Category) and 21 (for reserved category).

 

6. Interview:

Candidates who have been shortlisted in the examination for CWE PO will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations. Interviews will be conducted at select centres. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter.

 

The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (exam) and interview will be 80:20. The combined final scores of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in CWE PO and Interview.

A candidate should qualify both in the CWE and interview to be shortlisted for subsequent allotment process.
